AGARWOOD OIL / OUDH OIL / OUD OIL

Agarwood or Oudh is an exotic and expensive wood resin created when the Southeast Asian Aquilaria tree is attacked by a certain type of mold. The richly fragrant resin, which the tree produces in its core to fight off the infecting mold, has been harvested from affected trees for centuriesand used for incense and perfume oil.The "Wood of the Gods" has been traded and highly appreciated for thousands of years. Resinous wood is used as incense, for medicinal purposes, and pure resin in distilled form is used as perfume and perfume component. The oil of Oudh, whether extracted by distillation from wood, or by melting the raisin, is non-irritating and can be applied directly on the skin, or added in a perfume composition, most often as a base note. Its value is estimated as 1.5 times of the value of gold, and it is sometimes referred to as 'liquid gold'.An 80-year-old Aquilaria tree can yield 6-9 kg of agarwood oil. The resin compound in agarwood oil id detected by GC-MS method. Some main chemical compound of agarwood oils are A garol, A garospiral, Eudesmol, Jinkihol-eremol, Guaiol, Selinene, 2- (2-phenylethyl) chromon.Oil extracted from agarwood is used in Arabian countries as a perfume. Even with their high price and the advent of organic synthesis, rose oils are still perhaps the most widely used essential oil in perfumery. The macro compounds passed by GC in rose oil are Citronelol 17-45%, Giraneol 12-27%, Nerol 5-15%, Bound Alchohals 2-4.7%, Free alcohol 6.9-7.5%, N-paraphinic hydrocarbons 14 -33%.The key flavor compounds that contribute to the distinctive scent of rose oil, however, are beta-damascenone, beta-damascone, beta-ionone, and rose oxide. Beta-damascenonepresence and quantity is considered as the marker for the quality of rose oil.Due to the labor-intensive production process and the low content of oil in the rose blooms, rose oil commands a very high price. Harvesting of flowers is done by hand in the morning before sunrise and material is distilled the same day. There are three main methods for extracting the rose oil –Steam distillation, Solvent extraction and Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction.
